BIOMAC FORUM : Sharing knowledge for Biodiversity

From 29th to 31st May at King Fahd Hotel - Dakar, Wetlands International Africa will be holding a 3 days Forum on Biodiversity (BIOMAC) within the West African Regional Marine and Coastal Conservation Programme (PRCM) area of intervention.

BIOMAC (West African Marine and Coastal Biodiversity Network) Forum is an opportunity to promote concerted efforts for the conservation of habitats and species in regional marine and coastal ecosystems for increased efficiency

5TH December 2011 COP 17 UPDATE: FORESTS, FAMINE and CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION

2011 has been the International Year of forests. Sunday, 4th December was the official ‘Forest day’ at this year’s UN 17th Conference of the Party (COP 17) in Durban, South Africa. Co-hosted by the Government of South Africa, the Centre for International Forest Research (CIFOR), and the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF), Forest Day 5 was convened under the theme “From Policy to Practice,” with a special focus on the role of African forests in mitigating and adapting to climate change.

3rd December 2011 COP 17 UPDATE: AGRICULTURE, RURAL DEVELOPMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE

The forum was hosted by South Africa Minister of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries, Mrs. Tina Joemat - Pettersson who called on the 500 representatives of leading agricultural institutions to act urgently on agriculture. She explain that there was no time left for discussions and inaction but urged everyone to focus on a common message, bury divisions and stand together on behalf of the rural population.
